Reuters NEXT, Reuters flagship global leadership summit, returned on November 30 and December 1, 2022, to ask the questions that will shape tomorrow. The two-day hybrid event attracted over 7.5 million Twitter viewers and an audience of senior leaders in New York.

Now in its third year, the 2022 Reuters NEXT saw the addition of an in-person leadership summit held in New York, which was also streamed to a global audience. Each day also kicked off with a virtual agenda optimized for the APAC and EMEA business days.

Over 70 business, policy and society leaders and senior Reuters journalists spoke at Reuters NEXT across more than 40 sessions. Speakers included: United States Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo, Nasdaq President & CEO Adena Friedman, IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, Kotak Mahindra Bank Managing Director & CEO Uday Kotak, National Unity Government of Myanmar Acting President Duwa Lashi La, World Bank Group President David Malpass, NYSE Group President Lynn Martin, South Africa Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Naledi Pandor, Lithuania Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte, India Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Sovereign Fund of Egypt CEO Ayman Soliman, Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Japan Foreign Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa.

Reuters NEXT 2022 explored four key themes: leadership in times of instability, economy & inflation, climate & sustainability, and digital disruption. Speakers examined topics from different perspectives and brought passion, experience and expertise to forge a new path forward.

“These are turbulent times, and when the typical playbooks do not apply, we look to each other’s experiences, each other’s knowledge, as a way to understand the world around us,” Reuters President Paul Bascobert said while opening Reuters NEXT. “The Reuters NEXT conference is a platform to set your global agenda, in part because of the global reach and influence and trust, but also because of the collective wisdom and experience in this room.”

Reuters Editor-in-Chief Alessandra Galloni encouraged attendees to embrace the “global perfect storm” during the leadership summit “Because, hopefully, this will be a moment, with which in chaos around us, we can take stock, see, think clearly. And if this forum can inspire outcomes or action, even better.”

“Reuters NEXT is where new ideas and perspectives can truly flourish. We’re excited to bring world leaders and pioneers together again in a forum where global professionals can gain access to exclusive insights, opportunities and innovative solutions to the challenges we face in the year ahead,” said Josh London, Head of Reuters Professional and Reuters Chief Marketing Officer.

Reuters NEXT’s impact extended globally, with nearly 2,000 stories published in almost 600 outlets. You can find Reuters coverage of the leadership summit on Reuters.com.
