Russia performs military drills in region bordering Ukraine

Russian defence ministry released on Friday (January 21) video footage of the Russian Army performing drills in the Voronezh region bordering Ukraine.

The drills footage was published on the day when Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and the U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken had a meeting in Geneva, where questions about the potential Russian invasion in Ukraine also took place.

Russia has perturbed the West by building up troops near Ukraine and demanded that Washington pledge not to ever let Ukraine join NATO or expand the military alliance eastward, a stipulation that the United States refuses to accept.

Lavrov once again said in a news conference after the meeting that Russia has no intention of attacking Ukraine and has every right to move around its soldiers on its own territory and to carry out military drills as it sees fit.
