A wildfire raged on Wednesday (July 23) in the Spanish town of Verin, in the northern region of Galicia, burning at least 160 hectares, the local rural environment office said.
The fire forced a highway to be temporarily cut off as heavy smoke and flames came dangerously close to the traffic on Wednesday evening.
The rural environment office said on Thursday (July 23) the fire was still active and firefighters were still working on extinguishing the blaze.
The Energy and Environment Ministry said on its Twitter account that six emergency planes were deployed to the area to battle the fire.
