Foreign governments have given broad or cautious public statements about the ongoing uncertainty around the U.S. presidential election.

Several traditional allies such as the leaders of Australia, Japan, and New Zealand have said they will continue to work with either a Biden or Trump White House. The UK’s foreign minister, Dominic Raab, said his country had “full faith” the American electoral system would produce a winner.

Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani pointedly stated that the Trump administration “did not adhere to any human principles,” but added that regardless of whoever wins the race, “the U.S. government will surrender to the Iranian nation.”
