Chinese gov’t summons gaming firms

Reuters was more than two minutes ahead with news on Sept 8 that Chinese regulators had summoned game firms including Tencent and Netease, stirring concerns over Chinese authorities’ intensifying scrutiny of firms operating in a number of sectors.

Market Impact

The news came during the evening in China and prompted a drop in Netease shares, which gapped lower when markets opened the following day and ended down more than 2%.
