Regal CEO tells Reuters Media Summit about strong holiday season; shares surge

Reuters moved the market Dec. 3 with news from Regal Entertainment’s CEO Mike Campbell that, contrary to economic conditions, the theater chain was on track for a “great” holiday quarter. Campbell’s comments at the Reuters Media Summit that the global recession hadn’t dented the movie business sent shares of Regal up 16.3 percent in the 24 hours following his statement. The comments even got a special mention on the satirical TV show Saturday Night Live.
