Reuters exclusively reports Alstom to offer EU concessions to win Bombardier unit buy

Reuters exclusively reported that European trainmaker Alstom is set to offer the sale of a French rail factory to overcome EU antitrust concerns for its planned purchase of Bombardier’s transportation unit. Alstom is seeking to create the world’s No. 2 train manufacturer with the Bombardier unit purchase to better compete with Chinese leader CRRC Corp in its second attempt at a deal, after the European Commission blocked its planned merger with Siemens AG last year. Alstom and Bombardier issued separate statements a day later, confirming the Reuters story.
