Reuters exclusively reports Amazon-backed Rivian confirms plan for second U.S. assembly plant

Reuters exclusively reported that electric vehicle startup Rivian is planning a second U.S. assembly plant that includes battery cell production. As the auto industry races to develop EVs amid the global push to decarbonize manufacturing, companies like Rivian have captured the imagination of investors like Amazon, Ford Motor Co, T. Rowe Price, BlackRock and Fidelity. Multiple U.S. states have bid for the plant – dubbed “Project Tera” in documents – which will be announced in a couple of months and break ground early next year, Reuters sources said.
