Reuters exclusively reports EU’s planned digital levy to cover hundreds of firms

A digital levy to be proposed by the European Commission in the coming weeks to fund its recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic will apply to hundreds of companies, the majority of them European, its executive vice-president Margrethe Vestager said. Vestager’s comments, in an exclusive interview with Reuters, were the first by a top Commission official and came a day after the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) clinched a global tax deal, which Vestager said is not connected to the digital levy.
