Reuters first to report U.S. to award Newark flights to low-cost carrier to spur competition

Reuters was first to report that the Biden administration would announce it plans to award 16 slots for flights at Newark International airport in New Jersey to a low-cost carrier to spur competition at the busy northeast U.S. airport. In a joint notice seen by Reuters, the Transportation Department and FAA said that without the reassignment of the slots, it was highly unlikely that there would be any significant reduction in air fares.
