Reuters gives an in-depth look into India’s problem – a record wheat crop

Reuters provided an in-depth look at India’s problem with a record wheat crop of an estimated 109 million tonnes this year, which comes as the country battles soaring COVID-19 infections and thousands of farmers still occupy camps on the outskirts of New Delhi, where they are keeping up a months-long sit-in protest against government legislation. To appease protesters, the state grain purchaser is likely to have to procure large quantities of wheat at guaranteed prices, eating into the budget and bloating already high stock levels.
