Reuters reveals study suggests dengue may provide some immunity against COVID-19

Reuters reported exclusively on a new study that found a possible link between the spread of the coronavirus in Brazil and past outbreaks of dengue fever, suggesting that exposure to the mosquito-transmitted disease may provide some level of immunity against COVID-19. The study, shared exclusively with Reuters before publication, showed that places with lower coronavirus infection rates and slower case growth were locations that had suffered intense dengue outbreaks this year or last. If dengue antibodies do provide some immunity to COVID-19 that could have a significant impact on the race for a vaccine, suggesting that a dengue vaccine could also offer some protection to the coronavirus, according to the study.
