The MTV Video Music Awards is fast approaching and is one of the most talked about events of the year. From twerking to meaty fashion, the award show has filled screens with glamour and drama for the last 33 years.

Variety reported that last year’s show saw an increase in young people tuning in and averages 6 million total viewers.

Let’s take a look at five of the most iconic MTV moments…

2015: The year Miley Cyrus twerked the lines with Robin Thicke

With a troop of dancing bears, Miley Cyrus treated audiences to a memorable, twerk-filled performance featuring Robin Thicke.

2010: Gaga had beef on the red carpet

It seems Gaga isn’t a fan of cooked meat as she attended the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards in a dress made entirely of raw beef. That year, Gaga won the video of the year award.

2010: Beyonce reveals her baby bump mid-performance

During her performance of “Love on Top” at the 2011 MTV Video Music Award, Beyonce did the ultimate mic drop when she announced her first pregnancy.

2009 & 2015: The Kanye West and Taylor Swift saga

Kanye West infamously interrupted Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech for best female video winner at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards in New York.
