In a wide ranging exclusive interview, Pope Francis criticised the Trump administration’s policy on migrant family separation; said Europe should stop exploiting Africa and invest in ways that benefit the continent more; and appealed for greater press freedom around the world, citing the case of two Reuters journalists jailed in Myanmar on accusations of possessing secret documents. Francis also voiced optimism for improved ties between the Vatican and China and said that he could accept the resignations of more Chilean bishops following a sexual abuse scandal that has shattered the credibility of the Roman Catholic Church in the country.
