Global slowdown, market fears could extend Fed pause

Looking ahead to the U.S. Federal Reserve policy meeting this week, Reuters explained how a number of factors, such as a month-long U.S. government shutdown, signs of global economic slowdown and nervous financial markets, are forcing Fed Chairman Jerome Powell into a fine balancing act of signaling a longer pause in interest rate increases without suggesting it was already done with policy tightening.
