Reuters reveals BOJ’s bet on career pragmatist sets bank up for post-Kuroda era

A Reuters analysis provided insight into the Bank of Japan’s rare reappointment of a veteran technocrat, Shinichi Uchida, for another 4-year term as Executive Director. The move is seen in part to prepare for an eventual exit from governor Haruhiko Kuroda’s radical policies when his term ends next year. Typically, such positions last only a single term, after which the officials retire from the BOJ for private sector jobs.
