Reuters was first to report that Enbridge Inc has lowered oil-shipping requirements on its Mainline pipeline, North America’s largest oil-shipping network, by nearly two-thirds, in a move likely to satisfy smaller producers who feared they would be elbowed out by the company’s initial requirements. The change by Enbridge followed a rare move by the government of Alberta, which earlier this year ordered oil production cuts to boost prices.
