Reuters appoints Arif Durrani as director of Reuters Plus custom content studio

Reuters today announced the appointment of Arif Durrani as director of the Reuters Plus custom content studio, leading the content and creative strategy for Reuters Plus globally.

Durrani brings more than two decades of publishing, editorial and broadcast experience, having worked across business, technology and luxury sectors, as well as on large-scale projects for governments and multinationals.

The creative leadership hire comes as Reuters responds to a growing demand for engaging, original content for brands, agencies and institutions across all formats. Durrani will also play a key role in the direction and strategy of wider Reuters marketing as a member of the Marketing leadership team.

Durrani will report to Buddhika Amis, Senior Director of Marketing at Reuters, who said: “Reuters Plus combines the authority of a global news brand with the craft and capabilities of a focused creative agency, and Arif’s appointment will help propel us to the next level. We have ambitious plans to leverage our branded storytelling and to introduce new multimedia formats for a growing roster of clients.”

Durrani most recently served as senior editor at New York Times’ T Brand Studio. Prior to the New York Times, Durrani ran Bloomberg Media’s commercial editorial operations across Europe, Middle East and Africa. He has been an integral part of many award-winning partnerships, including winning Best Educational Documentary and Best Web Series at the Telly Awards, Best Brand Media Partnership at the World Media Awards and AOP’s Publisher of the Year.

Durrani said: “Reuters has been a trusted, global news agency for more than 170 years and it’s a privilege to join this essential operation at such a pivotal time. Content partnerships represent a dynamic and fast-growing part of the professional media mix. They have an unrivalled ability to engage influential global audiences by informing, engaging and inspiring.
