Reuters journalists have been on the ground recording the aftermath of Pakistan’s historic flooding across pictures, video and text, with Reuters coverage shared by publications and networks globally.

The floods, worse than those that hit Pakistan in 2010, have washed away roads, crops, homes and bridges across the country. The government estimates that more than 33 million, over 15% of the country’s population, have been affected and at least 1,300 killed. read more

Reuters photojournalist Akhtar Soomro has captured the flood’s aftermath throughout the country.

“It is painful to witness the miseries brought on by the disaster,” said Akhtar. “People have suddenly gone from prospering, owning homes, buffalos and farmland, to displaced and forced to seek temporary shelter and food handouts to survive. As a photographer, I could help convey their stories so a global audience could hear them.”
