Reuters Events today announced the launch of the Reuters IMPACT Climate Council. The council brings together influential executives, leaders, and changemakers and seeks to start a conversation about the climate challenge facing our planet and what actions are needed to address it.
The Reuters IMPACT Climate Council will help to shape the Reuters IMPACT agenda throughout the year, as well as generate data-driven insight for the Reuters IMPACT community and the Reuters Events annual climate report.
The world is at a critical juncture, facing an unprecedented climate emergency. But a flood of misinformation, mistrust and noise about who is taking action and who isn’t has contributed to a disconnect between governments, big business and society. This has made it harder than ever to find a trusted platform to drive real change.
Members of the Reuter IMPACT Climate Council include:
- Horacio Larreta, Mayor of Buenos Aires
- Marcie Frost, CEO, CalPERS
- Steve Kenzie, Executive Director, UNGCN UK
- Nigel Topping, UNFCCC High-Level Champion
- Jonathan Maxwell, CEO, SDCL
- Maria Mendiluce, CEO, We Mean Business Coalition
- Gail Whiteman, Founder, Arctic Basecamp
Jon Harman, Senior Sector Head, Reuters Events said: “The Reuters IMPACT Climate Council will help drive the agenda for the Reuters IMPACT community and inspire climate action by bringing their insights and expertise to bear. We’re thrilled to bring together this group of global leaders to provide business intelligence to the communities we serve.”
Reuters IMPACT, taking place on September 6 and 7 in London, brings together world leaders, business c-suite and forward-thinking innovators to inspire, drive action and accelerate solutions towards the greatest challenge of our generation.
