Reuters exclusively reported that the U.S. government is expected to extend a reprieve for 90 days given to Huawei Technologies that lets the Chinese firm buy supplies from U.S. companies so that it can service existing customers. Reuters was also first to report that Citigroup and BNP Paribas were caught up in the U.S. criminal case against Huawei Technologies. The banks were named in documents released on August 20 after a court hearing in Canada, where Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou is fighting extradition to the U.S. on bank fraud charges.
