Reuters exclusively reports China blocks some Canadian canola exports

Reuters was first to report that China has canceled Canadian agribusiness Richardson International Ltd’s registration to ship canola to China. Tensions between the two countries have risen since Canada arrested a top executive of China’s Huawei Technologies, sparking retaliatory action from Beijing. Richardson confirmed the development, which knocked down canola prices and the Canadian dollar. The most-active May canola futures fell 1.1 percent, while the Canadian dollar dropped to a 5-week low after the report was published.
